What is your cooking oil?
« on: August 26, 2018, 08:11:17 AM »
I bought some grapeseed oil. I usually use olive oil, but grapeseed oil seems better suited for higher temperatures.

For higher cooking temperatures, I use refined safflower oil.  It has a pretty high smoke point.
For medium-low to medium heat, I use grapeseed oil or refined peanut oil
For medium-low, I'll use light olive oil.

EVOO is reserved for salads and such where there's no exposure to heat.  :)

Usually olive oil.  I have peanut oil for a few things.  And some other oil- maybe canola?

Canola for baking. Olive oil for everything else.

Safflower or grapeseed for high temp cooking or something I don't want to taste like olive oil. Otherwise olive oil or sometimes butter.

Cooking - mostly olive oil or butter
Baking - canola, unsalted butter or coconut oil depending on the flavor I need.

I forgot about butter.  I use that for some things (like spinach).  Although usually I use the spreadable butter (butter & canola) because I'm lazy.

Once in a while I will use bacon grease.  I have a cup on my counter and it doesn't smell funny, so I guess it's ok?
