Half Marathon race.

I got to the start late, was still in the port-a-potty when the gun went off.
Started about 3 1/2 minutes behind the field.

No marker at mile 1. Mile 2 in 16:32. Started drifting towards 9 minute miles.
I ran with two bottles of ice, it was gone by mile 4. Kept 1 bottle for water.
One mile had a big hill that I walked and a water station I stopped to refill
my bottle, total time was about 10:30. I stopped at 3 more water stations
to fill the bottle. About another minute lost. Next 4 miles were flat and I
managed right at 9 flat, closed with an 8:20.

Finshed 25 out of 62. So I passed 37 runners.
Interestingly, if I had started on time I would have been only
2 spots higher, and one of those was a woman who beat me by 2 seconds.
3rd in age group. 2nd place was 9 minutes ahead.

1:57 mid by my watch, just over 2 hours by the race clock.
About 3 minutes slower than last year.
The cooling rains did not come like last year.
Hot and humid the whole time.

Foot ached a little at the end.
The big toe was fine. The knee was fine.
Just hot, humid. And no proper warm up.
And my new shoes aren't in yet.

Good effort for me. Ideally I could have been 5 minutes faster.
I'm 100 miles and 10 pounds behind last year, but working on it.

I locked my keys in the car and had to spring $60 for a locksmith.

On the way to the race I pulled over to snap a picture of a fox eating on a roadkill.
On the way back the roadkill was gone.

I did a 4K race at a brewery. Funky little course of human steeplechase, two and a quarter loops each with 3 traffic circles, and you had to do a hairpin turn-around twice. About 750 ran so we lapped people by the end of the first loop (about a mile in) and traffic was thick the entire way. Top 25, OA, won my age (and I think age grade overall) and a case of beer. They had a good spread of brunch food and free beer at the beer garden. Good times!
I'll stick to running, thank you.
