Recently Discovered Food/Drink
« on: December 12, 2012, 01:29:14 PM »
Things I recently discovered that I'm grooving on:

I like martinis. I always drank the same one: Wet Vodka Martini with an olive. Yesterday, for shits, I ordered it with a lemon twist instead and holy shit. That's a spectacular cocktail!
Espressos made at home with my newly fixed espresso machine.
Worcestershire sauce on my eggs.
In season Navel oranges that are huge, heavy, and juicy.

I picked up some garlic and herb pizza dough from Trader Joe's last week, and made a thin crust pizza topped with bacon, sauteed mushrooms, and caramelized onions.  Baked it on the pizza stone.  Holy crap, that's the best pizza I've had in years.

Mochas.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oh, and I just tried a gluten free tortilla that is tasty.  I've been making pizza on them this week for lunch.

It's like I'm a 12 year old boy, because I'm giggling at cock sauce.  Is that the red rooster sricachuau stuff (I know that's not spelled right)?

Good call. I like the cock sauce in small quantities. If I could take the heat, I'd have more.

Court: yes, I think she's talking about sriracha.  I LOVE it.  I often eat scrambled egg beaters for breakfast and I always mix in a ton of sriracha

I like that one too, Dagy.  But not as much as the sriracha.

I remember someone here once posted a "recipe" for toast with cottage cheese on top, with sriracha on the cottage cheese.  Sounded repellent, but I tried it and it was pretty awesome.

OBH - probably... When I go there, I usually get lost in the sweets section :-/. It's right near me, I should go more often.

And I adore the wooden cap.  Makes it seem less mass-produced somehow.

I discovered that my George Foreman grill works great as a toaster.

I made a tuna melt on it for lunch today.

I think I'm gonna get more use outta this thing than just "grilling" meat.

And as long as we're posting weird things with peanut butter, I like to dunk peanut butter sandwiches in tomato soup.

It's like a panini press, really!  I love making sandwiches on my similar appliance.  It turns out the way to make gluten free bread edible is to put butter on it and grill it.  SCORE.
