The site does remind me of https://someoneatethis.tumblr.com/, but without the irony or humo(u)r.
Canadian Thanksgiving. Yum?
So, it's like thanksgiving meats american-style picnic/bbq but cold?
That was confusing-- for some reason I typed "meats" but I meant "meets". So, I revise my mash-up to thanksgiving leftovers & american style bbq.For fundraisers is this like a bake sale, where one person brings the yellow salad and another brings vegetable salad, and so forth? And then people buy it and eat it for dinner? Like, you'd buy 4 plates for your family and then eat them at home? We have things like pancake breakfasts and spaghetti feeds here (I haven't seen one in a while but it's a concept I'm familiar with) but you eat at the event. Is this something you would feel nostalgic for if you left the region? We really do not have anything even remotely close to that here. Maybe Hawaiian plate lunch would be the most similar?
The cold plates as fundraisers makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It reminds me of church potlucks. Somehow comforting.I love beets so the beet salad is intriguing!
I am very intrigued by the cold salads, especially the beet salad.
