Shoe Recommendations
« on: October 22, 2018, 11:49:50 PM »
I wore Adidas Supernova Glide for years. One of the new models (can’t remember, but it was several years ago) didn’t work for me. Caito recommended Saucony Ride and they have been a dream, until the 10. Have been building back mileage and did a six miler and could hardly walk for two days (ITB issues). Went back to my old 7s and had absolutely NO ISSUES. Ran four in my SR10s Saturday, ITB hurt after 1.5 miles. Today I ran five in my 7s with no pain.

Need recommendations on a neutral shoe with good arch support, pretty please. Thanks in advance.

The Ghost and Launch are very similar with Ghost being a little bit more cushiony and weighing a little bit more.  If you're running under 10 miles you could do either.  Brooks also just released a shoe style named Ricochet that are supposed to be somewhere in the 2 but with more bounce.

I ran in Ghosts for the very first time this morning.  They were nice.  I've been wearing Launch for the last 2 years and love them but now that I'll be moving into a longer training cycle soon I needed more cushion for long runs. Launch will be for speed work.

I think so. I'm a size 9 in everyday shoes and buy my running shoes in 9.5.  Ghosts fit best in 9.5.

I've been wearing the Nike Vaporfly and I like the plate. It feels like it improves my form.

Are those the $200 shoes or the $250?

I really love Brooks Ghost, too.  I used to run in Adidas supernova a lot, and then quit, because I could not find them on sale.  I recently got a pair of the new supernovas, and I like them a lot, too. They are more cushioned than they used to be.

I thought you were really into Hoka.

I bought a pair of hokas out of curiosity.  I do not like them, but there is really nothing wrong with them, either, so I am just accumulating miles on them, hoping to get rid of them at 500.

I like Hokas for me, but for someone who liked Supernovas, the Ghost seemed like a good choice.

I wear brooks launch.   Tried the ghost and they seemed so heavy and made me run way to the outside of my foot.   The brooks glycerin works okay and they used to be toted for “heavy runners”.  Maybe so, as they have been the only shoe that I have been able to get 500 or more miles out of.  Since I do about 20% of the mileage’s used to, I just stick with the launch and throw them out well before 200 miles.
