Magic Microbe:
I need something for a christmas party saturday. It needs to not be something hot since I live an hour away and it needs to be quick to make because I am super busy this weekend. Give me ideas! There will be about 20 people there.

*The party is at my coworkers house. She is Italian (actually Italian not Italian American) and it will be lasagna for dinner and tiramisu for desert.

diablita:
why don't you do caprese skewers?  they'd be very festive this time of year, too: small mozzarella balls, cherry/grape tomatoes, basil and other yummy things on the skewers.  You could make confit of garlic a littel bit ahead and add that as well.

I like the skewer idea, except I’d do more of an antipasto spin - a mozz ball, a roasted red pepper, a marinated mushroom, maybe some sort of cured meat if I didn’t need to be veggie.

I love caprese but I’m a tomato snob and don’t love the idea of a fresh tomato based app in December.

Run Amok:
If you really want something easy: block of cream cheese w/ salsa (or something sweet like cranberry relish) poured over it with wheat thins. Almost no assembly required.

omega lambda:
I love those caprese skewers.  I made some awhile ago and added a twist; I added sliced strawberry to the skewer, drizzled all with some evoo.  Super good!
